Julie Bever Online MBA Alumni Interview

 National Partnerships Marketing Manager Julie Bever graduated from the University of Adelaide with an online Master of Business Administration in 2022. She began her higher education journey in Canada, completing a Bachelor of Commerce, before deciding to embark on an MBA to expand her skillset.  

‘I’m a forever learner – I love the idea of learning and challenging myself’.   

World-class education

She always wanted to do an MBA but believed she would have to wait until later in life due to her full-time workload. However, with the flexibility offered by online study, Julie was able to complete her MBA much earlier in her career.

New career opportunities unlocked

The career benefits of enrolling in an MBA were almost instantaneous for Julie. Upon finishing the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration stage of her MBA, she was offered her new role on the condition that she finished the remainder of the program.

The knowledge and leadership experience gained through her MBA has opened up many opportunities for Julie including taking on the management of a strategic partnership, overseeing new business development activities and fast-tracking her path towards a promotion. Her study load was never more than a single subject at a time which meant the course content remained fresh in her mind and ready to feed into her work straight away.

Networking online

Throughout Julie’s MBA experience, she found that she was able to form strong connections with her peers through the online collaboration embedded in the University of Adelaide online MBA degree. As she was able to balance her work and studies, Julie was able to dedicate more time to developing relationships with her peers.

Julie was able to meet and share experiences with peers in senior roles at different organisations. Hearing about their experiences empowered Julie and gave her the confidence to apply this new knowledge to her day job. Some of the best lessons came from her fellow students.

Julie was very satisfied with her tutors. ‘My tutor Sue made herself very available, especially while I completed my capstone subjects.’ Due to the nature of balancing work and study, Julie needed answers in a timely manner and found that she was able to get them quickly.
